Environmental Improvement Performance :
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA):
The Dorfak Shomal Steel Complex was established in 1397 after obtaining EIA approval and identifying factors and taking steps to correct and reducing the negative effects of the plan with the approval of the Department Of Environment of Iran.
Environmental Factors in Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment :
- Physical (geological, seismic, air, soil water, sound)
- Socio-economic (population, literacy and education, health, employment and unemployment, etc.)
- Cultural (protection, prospects, etc.)
- Biological environments (plants and animals) and existing environmental pollution (air, soil, water, noise)
The Air :
Installation of air pollution control system:
In order to reduce the air pollution and its pollutants and due to the dust in the current time in country, the complex has installed a bag filter system (Bag filter, Bag house) at the time of construction.
Environmental sound :
It has also taken steps to reduce noise pollution, such as the use of environmental noise-reducing plant species. In addition, it is possible to promote green zone and vegetation to reduce air pollution, such as coniferous.
Water (wastewater):
In order to prevent water pollution by human and industrial effluent of the complex by constructing biological treatment plant (aerobic and anaerobic), it has been able to bring the pollutant parameters of mentioned wastewater to standard discharge to surface water. However, due to the high consumption of water in the steel industry and energy saving, the effluent is re-circulated in the cooling system after refining. The bio-purification method adopted does not use any chemicals in the purification process.
The Soil:
In order to protect the soil ecosystem and due to the severe contamination of soil and groundwater with the waste materials and by-products of the integrated waste management system, their overall identification, monitoring of the principle of waste separation, collection, transportation and also launched a research platform and budgeted for their recovery.
Online monitoring :
The complex has installed an online monitoring system to allow the observant to recognize the actual state of the source , in order to monitor, continuously and momentary assessment of the status of the chimney's emissions and considering the importance of environmental pollutants and their role in ecological and human health.
The Waste :
All processed and non-processed waste, common and special, marketable or unmarketable waste in the complex will be dispatched to the appropriate centers after obtaining the necessary permits, so that the company has complied with the waste management rules by incorporating a green station and training the waste service staff
